"How a Unemployee Overcame Communication Hurdles to Achieve Success"
Srilatha had always been a shy and introverted girl. Even as
a child, she found it difficult to communicate with others and preferred to
keep to herself. As she grew older, Srilatha realized that her communication
issues were becoming a real problem in her life. She struggled to make friends,
network professionally, and even order food at a restaurant. Despite her
challenges, Srilatha was determined to succeed. She studied hard in school and
earned a degree in business administration. But finding a job was still a
daunting prospect for her. Srilatha knew that her communication skills would be
a barrier, and she was afraid that she would never be able to find work.
One day, Srilatha learned about a job opening at the United
Nations. The UN was looking for someone to work in their finance department,
and Srilatha knew this would be her perfect job. She applied for the position
and was thrilled when she received an invitation to come in for an interview.
The day of the interview arrived, and Srilatha was a bundle of nerves. She
rehearsed her answers to common interview questions over and over again, hoping
that she wouldn't freeze up when the time came. When she arrived at the UN
headquarters, she was greeted by a friendly receptionist who asked her to take
a seat and wait for her interviewer. As she waited, Srilatha's anxiety began to
mount. She started to feel lightheaded and dizzy, and her heart was pounding in
her chest. Just as she was about to give up hope, her interviewer appeared. The
woman was tall and imposing, with a stern expression on her face. Srilatha
tried to introduce herself, but her words came out in a jumbled mess. She
stuttered and stumbled over her sentences, feeling embarrassed and humiliated.
But to her surprise, the interviewer didn't seem bothered by her communication
issues. Instead, she listened patiently and asked Srilatha to clarify her
answers when necessary.
Srilatha started her new job with a sense of trepidation.
She was still nervous about communicating with her colleagues and worried that
she might make mistakes. But she soon discovered that her new colleagues were
just as welcoming and patient as her interviewer had been. Over time, Srilatha's
communication skills improved. She took classes and practiced speaking in front
of groups, and she learned how to communicate effectively with her colleagues.
She even made a few friends at work!
In The End
Today, Srilatha is a valued member of the UN finance
department. She still struggles with communication issues from time to time,
but she knows that she can always count on the support of her colleagues. And
whenever she's feeling anxious or uncertain, she remembers the kindness of the
UN interviewer who gave her a chance when no one else would.
